With just under two years to go until the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the London Organising Committee is on the lookout for Marshals as part of its Games-time Volunteer programme. The LOCOG Needs 70,000 volunteers to assist in all areas of the games and are known as 'Games Makers'.

All the cycling events require marshalls and with Britain a serious medal contender in both the men's and women's road races this is a great opportunity for cycle enthusiasts, club riders, and armchair fans to play a part in one of the highest profile international sporting events.

Volunteers will also be expected to work at least 10 days of shifts over the games period, which will likely mean that you will have an opportunity to work on other sporting events too. In return, you will have a golden opportunity to help make history happen, work alongside new colleagues and develop new friendships. We will have some exciting volunteer reward and recognition plans to start sharing next year.

If you would like to apply as a cycling volunteer, please follow the instructions below and note that LOCOG is unable to respond to individual queries. To enable LOCOG to easily track your application as a XCRacer.com reader please use this code: BRDXCR.

Please note that applying with a volunteer code is not in any way a guarantee of a Games Maker position. Every applicant will be expected to complete an application form and, if successful, attend a selection event. All applicants offered a Games Maker role must also attend three training events prior to the Games.
