Midlands 2014 MTB Series has landed!

Kicking off with a double header on the 26th and 27th April, Matlock CC will be hosting a cross-country eliminator race (XCE) on the Saturday at Ringwood in Chesterfield, before the action moves up the road to Birchall on Sunday, with Bolsover & District CC promising another cracker of a course. Next up is the Midlands Champs on the 17th-18th May, with the XCE taking place on the Saturday afternoon and the Champs status allowing Torq Performance to ramp up the tech to craft a national level course for the XCO on the Sunday. 

If you're into the outdoors, the Cliffhanger festival in Sheffield on the 21st-22nd June is not to be missed and alongside every sport imaginable, Midlands XC will be hosting an XCE on the Sunday next to the Cycle Speedway and Dual Slalom (if you're up for the challenge of the triple crown!). After a pause for the National Champs and Commonwealth Games, the Wyre Forest hosts round 6 on the 10th August. Bewdley Outdoors unearthed a standout course for it's debut and maybe the summer date this year will mean the stream crossings are a little shallower...

For the finale, Andrew Davies of Bridgenorth CC has been busy crafting an awesome new venue to end the series on a high with an XCO race on Sunday 31st August at Dudmarston Wood in Shropshire. Speaking to the organising team, they were excited about the season ahead "This year is a real reflection on how the sport is changing, the sort of racing that riders want and the type of events that the host clubs want to promote". "Historically, the series has continued into autumn, so we're nudging things back that way... Did anyone really enjoy racing in March?!"

"It's not just about the young guns who love shredding the trails elbow to elbow though, so we've reinstated the Super Vets as a separate category and tweaked the race day schedule to ensure everybody has the best experience."
