The Stinger is a unique Off Road Duathlon taking place within the private confines of Newnham Park. A nice 5km trail run gets the legs warmed up before you tackle 20k of quality Mountain Bike trails before the final Stinger Run. This final run will take in as much grim terrain as can be found within Newnham...river crossings, mud troughs, bank scrambles, up hill and through bog before you have the finish line in sight and it's all over.
As you cross the line you will receive your souvenir finishers mug that will take some of the pain away.
The Stinger is an annual event and this will be it's 5th staging.

There are two solo categories, over 18 and over 40 plus a pairs relay category for one runner and one rider.
Prizes and trophies from event sponsors Alltrax will be awarded to the top 3 in each category.
All categories will start together around the 5km running course, then 4 laps of a 5km Mountain Bike Course before the final 3km Stinger Run. The transition area will be besides the Start/Finish line and adjacent to the event parking.
Please be aware all the trails are off road around challenging terrain and a suitable helmet must be worn on the Mountain Bike phase.
The course will not be available for practice until race day. The event base has indoor registration, drinking water, cafe, flushing loos with space to get changed, free hard standing car parking. There will also be race commentary and full lap times for all sections.

1130 - Registration closes and all equipment needs to be in transition.
1200 - Race starts for all categories

Directions:
Newnham Park Shooting Ground provides a great setting for this event. For Newnham take the Plympton turning from the A38 then follows signs for either Newnham Industrial Estate or Lee Moor and then as you go through the industrial estate you will pick up signs for Newnham Park. The Park is off the Lee Moor road (B3417) and take the turning into the park signed 'Newnham Park Shooting Ground' The parking and event venue is about 1 mile down this hard surfaced track. Post code is PL7 5BN but this covers quite a large area and sat navs should not be relied upon.
