With only just over a week before the second round of the Welsh XC Series, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to pre-ride the course. So here goes!!!

The course is at Cefn Dyrys, which is just on the outskirts of Builth Wells and is a regular for locals, to hit the trails.

The race will start on a hard packed stone road, which will run for about half a kilometre. This should spread things out enough, before turning left onto the first descent which is a fairly stony, wet and fast. So you will need to be 100% focussed or you will be caught out on this one!!

You will then turn a hard left into the woods. This is where you get your first climb, which is short and sharp, but you will certainly need to pick your line well.

Once you've mastered the climb, you continue onto the next decent, which is short but good fun (winding through the trees and fairly steep)

Next up a short climb, followed by a fast little, grassy descent. This then takes you onto the main climb of the race, which is not too steep, but it's quite a long drag on hard packed tractor tracks. (So it's weather proof!!)

At the top of the climb you turn right into the best bit of the course. To save describing each up and down, to sum it up!! It is basically a lot of single-track through the woods, which I can almost say everybody will enjoy!!! Then to finish off a nice little climb, back to the start.

The lap will make for a fast and furious bit of racing, and most importantly will hold up in all weathers.

Thanks to Scott for inviting me to give the course a go. The course is excellent and should produce a great race so I do hope people will come along and support the Welsh series so that it can continue to run in future years.
