Re: Brighton Big Dog 2010

Is it exactly the same course as 2009?

Re: Brighton Big Dog 2010

Hi MDB

Yep, pretty much. We'll probably be relocating the area nearer the entrance of Stanmer Park (more space and facilities) so they'll be the long grass climb almost straight away. This does mean though that you'll finish the lap after a good 5 minute downhill :-)

Apart from that much the same and at the moment it is running very well and super fast. Fingers crossed it stays good.

Re: Brighton Big Dog 2010

Hi Oli,

Thanks for the swift response.

Relocating nearer the entrace to Stanmer seems like a wise choice, although that grassy climb is really painful towards the end!

Will you be including the section by the upper lodges where the course crosses over the road and returns via "Return of the Jedi"? Last year that was quite a sketchy part of the course what with it being narrow and returning riders coming down fast and going wide on the corner.

Re: Brighton Big Dog 2010

Yeah, that is something we're looking into at the moment to help avoid that!

Re: Brighton Big Dog 2010

Course has been redirected...

dont forget these guys..

Re: Brighton Big Dog 2010

Hi,
We had such a great day last year we convinced others that they should participate and to date we have registered 4 teams, but disaster has struck. We have a team of two registered and one of the guys has dropped out with a bad back !!. Since all the other guys I ride with are already entered, we are frantically looking for a standin to complete the team of 2. The other half of the team is 37yrs old and competes in the Norwegian national series and is extremely fit and competitive - he heard about the free beer and booked a flight !!..., so if you know anyone out there who could not get a place and would like the oppertunity to be part of a competitive team, pls drop me a line.

Re: Brighton Big Dog 2010

MORVELO - for some reason the campsite details mentioned on the website doesn't seem to be open anymore???

Not sure what everyone else has done for staying down there?

Re: Brighton Big Dog 2010

For other campsites please check here: http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/calcd … =-0.101098

We will update the website and here once we have more information. Thanks.

Re: Brighton Big Dog 2010

Hi Guys

Looking forward to my first Brighton Big Dog, only doing the Oneder Dog this year, but should still be a grin, can you tell me exactly where the main entrance is going to be or give me some directions, i will be coming from the Lewes area along the A27, can't find exact direction anywhere on the site.

cheers

Mark

Re: Brighton Big Dog 2010

Hi Mark. We are yet to confirm the exact entrance due to construction work on the new Falmer Stadium but more than likely we'll be getting people to park in the Sussex Uni Sports Centre carpark.

Confirmed details on the Big Dog website at the start of next week.

Re: Brighton Big Dog 2010

So if we have to park in the Uni Sports Centre Car Park does that mean we have to walk with all our gear to the start / finish area? Sounds like a bit of a 'mare.

Re: Brighton Big Dog 2010

Any news on the parking facilities?

Re: Brighton Big Dog 2010

The latest at the moment is that you will be able to park within Stanmer Park and not at the Uni as previously thought. The main arena will be just inside the entrance of the park rather than half way into the park as per last year, so this should give us some more space.

Re: Brighton Big Dog 2010

can anyone supply directions to the entrance to Stanmer Park if i'm coming along the A27 from Lewes please

Re: Brighton Big Dog 2010

Is that very steep down hill amongst the trees with a sharp left included, loads of nasty crashes on that section last year including me.  Also will you change the route at all if it's pouring with rain.

Re: Brighton Big Dog 2010

Have the wasps nests been cleared for this year?  The blighters cost me the race last year!

Re: Brighton Big Dog 2010

Blimey,  and there i was worrying about tyre choice.

looks like what i actually need is full body armour and a bee protection suit!!

smile)

Re: Brighton Big Dog 2010

Tyre choice is the least of your worries

Re: Brighton Big Dog 2010

The Big Dog Website seems to now be directing to a paragliding shop...is there  major new we need to know other than Stanmer Park, tomorrow start 1200?

Re: Brighton Big Dog 2010

Hi Rupert,

You got some great snaps on the day. Including the one of me standing muddy and dejected in the finish area with a broken frame. I'm the one whose seat post is at a strange angle.
