I thought it would be good to do some blogs on my local bike shops, not so much to promote sales but if it does great. It's more to do with getting people to appreciate what a local shop can do for us as bikers, especially if we try to use them as much as possible. First up and my closest shop is Cycle-tec based in Builth Wells. It's run by Dave Evans and Gareth Roland who are both friends of mine and accomplished bikers in their own right.
This year cycle-tec is taking over the reigns to the Marathon series! With lead sponsors Scot. Should be a cracking series, especially the weekend in April which will be 3 events on one weekend, based in builth wells! Going to have a go at all three, well at least that's the plan!

I recently decided to treat myself to a new bike and after a lot of looking I opted for the Scot 710. Fancied giving the 650b a try, after been converted to 29er. Thinking that this would be perfect compromise!
Calling to see the boys I ended up with a cracking deal and a lovely shinny new bike, which had to be shipped from Belgium as they had sold out in the UK.

At Cycle-Tec you will always get a warm welcome and probably the offer of a cuppa and some general biking chat. This is what makes a good bike shop in my eyes! It's a very tough market out there with all the online dealers, but sometimes cheapest isn't always best, especially if you should have any problems down the line!

So next time you look to buy on line consider giving your local shop a chance first!
