Pre-Entry closed

We launched the 3 Dales Mountain Bike Challenge in 2016 to rave reviews and it's back for 2017.

This event, sponsored by All Terrain Cycles and run in conjunction with the Manorlands Cycle events group, makes for an exciting challenge for all standards of mountain bike and cyclo-cross rider.

All entry fees go towards supporting Sue Ryder's care at Manorlands Hospice, stretching right up across these three dales through our community nursing team. While there is no obligation to raise additional funds through sponsorship, those who raise £50 or more will be entered into a prize draw to win a mystery bike-related prize from our sponsors at All Terrain Cycles. Team entry is possible at a reduced rate.

The routes
There are three routes: one for hardcore experienced riders, one for intermediates, and one for relative beginners and families. The Ribble (38.9 miles) This may well become known as the ter-Ribble as it is about 39 miles long and climbs over 4,000 cumulative feet. The route heads east out of Threshfield, passing Malham Tarn, before descending into Langcliffe and Settle. It then turns back up Stockdale Lane, passes Malham Tarn in the other direction and then heads left along the path known as Hawkswick Clowder. Upon reaching Hawkswick, it follows a road-based section to Conistone and then tackles the final two hills, before descending the Hebden Ghyll and returning back to the start point. For those unsure if they can do the whole 38.9 miles, there's a bail-out option at the 32.8-mile mark, which is less than a mile from the finish. The approximate off-road distance of this route is 26 miles.

The Aire (25.3 miles) This is a testing intermediate route of almost 25 miles and 2,390 cumulative feet of climbing. The route heads east out of Threshfield and almost reaches Malham Tarn, before turning right along the path known as Hawkswick Clowder. Upon reaching Hawkswick, it follows a road section to Conistone and then climbs the final two hills, before descending the Hebden Ghyll and returning back to the start point. For those unsure if they can do the whole 24.7 miles, there's a bail-out option at the 18.6-mile mark, which is less than a mile from the finish. The approximate off-road distance of this route is 15 miles.

The Wharfe (12.7 miles) This route is a 12.3-mile ride with 1,080 cumulative feet of climbs. The route takes participants along the back roads from Grassington to Conistone, and then joins the route taken by the Ribble and Aire riders back to Grassington. It then tackles one more hill before descending through Hebden Ghyll and then returning back by road to the start point. For those unsure if they can do the whole 12.3 miles, there's a bail-out option at the 6.2-mile mark, which is less than a mile from the finish. Its approximate off-road distance is 4.5 miles.

Start times: Ribble and Aire routes - 9.00am Wharfe route - 10.00am

All participants will receive a medal and a well earned complementary hot meal at the finish. Thanks to our sponsor All Terrain Cycles
