Each race in the 2011 Hope Race Series is a simple, single race (maximum 2 hours long) with a staggered start for the categories.

The Racers / Weekend Warriors / Racing Divas start first, followed by the Have-a-go Heros and then the Lads / Lasses with a 20 minute gap between each start. The Lads and Lasses start at about 10:40. After the leading rider/s have done 90 minutes, they will get a bell indicating the last lap. All riders crossing the finishing line will then get the bell. The next time the leading rider/s cross the line, they get the chequered flag indicating the end of the race. All riders subsequently crossing the finish line also get the chequered flag indicating the end of the race. The winner for each category is the rider who has completed the most laps. In the event of a tie, the riders with the shortest time to complete is the winner.

There will be prizes / trophies for each category in every race from our sponsors, along with some overall series prizes from Hope (see prize page).

2011 Hope Race Series does offer BC ranking points for "sport" categories in the "Racer" and "Racing Divas" categories. See race rules for more information.

Times:

Racing starts at 10:00am on the day. Registration starts at 8.30am. Course fully open from 9.30am. Entry: Pre-entry is recommended and we must get your entry form and cheque 7 days before the event. Entry on the day will be available if the event is not full (payment will be cash only).

MEN'S CATEGORIES
Racer: Aged 17+ in 2011 Experienced, fit and skilled riders only, our top category. If you have a BC Racing Licence, you must enter this category.

Weekend Warrior: Aged 17+ in 2011 You can ride a bike well, lots of experience, you probably go downhill faster than up.

Have-a-go Hero: Aged 17+ in 2011 You have the bike and the enthusiasm, but may lack experience or fitness (the course is shorter and slightly less technical and there are fewer climbs).

Lads: Aged 15 or 16 in 2011 Can ride for an hour and can handle a bike on the quarry trails.

WOMEN'S CATEGORIES
Racing Diva: Aged 17+ in 2011, you can ride a bike well, lots of experience on an MTB.

Have-a-go Heroine: Aged 17+ in 2011, you have the bike and the enthusiasm, but may lack experience or fitness (the course is shorter and slightly less technical and there are fewer climbs).

Lasses: Aged 15 or 16 in 2011 Can ride for an hour and can handle a bike on the quarry trails.

Please note! Whichever category you enter, if you are under 18 you must bring a parent or guardian and they must sign a consent form on the day.

Trade team: (You can sign up as a trade team at registration on race day) Just for fun series competition for teams with at least one rider who is the bike trade. Ringers allowed, sorry no ‘have-a-goes’.
