The Howies Tide to Tide is a brand new cycling event that sets pairs and teams of 3 or 4 riders against not only other riders but the forces of nature as riders race against the tides.

The event will run from high tide to low tide, giving riders a 6 hour window to lap the incredible course within the Country Park. Expect lots of fast, fun singletrack with a course similar to the very popular Battle on the Beach and also includes a short jaunt onto the beach. The race will run from 3pm to 9pm, meaning the final few laps will be in darkness so lights will be required. We will have reflective signs to ensure you know where to go in the dark!

Set against the spectacular backdrop of the Gower Peninsula and coastal scenery of Carmarthen Bay, the event is open to all off-road bicycles (MTB & cyclocross). If it rolls on dirt and you can pedal it, it’s fine.

Surly will be around all day providing demo rides on their range of bikes, including fatbikes and 29er-plus. We will be running a competition during the event for a chance to win an amazing prize from Surly. All you have to do is be the closest person to the “Magic Lap Time”.

Male, Female and mixed categories are available in both Pairs and Team events with prizes on offer in each category and electronic chip timing to ensure there is no arguing when it comes to bragging rights over your mates!

The beautiful park with miles of beach means the family will have something to do when they are not shouting at you. If the kids think watching you race is boring, Pembrey Country Park has the longest toboggan run in Wales, pony trekking, a 130 metre long dry ski slope, a giant adventure playground and 8 Wildlife trails with set routes. We will also be running a range of kids races (Saturday 1pm) for all those under 14 who are not eligible to race themselves. The entry fee will be minimal.

Free camping on Saturday night with full facilities (normally £13 per pitch, per night)
