To make a long weekend of it we headed down to plymouth on the Thursday, for our last real race of the XC Season. With the forecast looking pretty promising, we braved camping gor the three nights.Having an extremely quite nights sleep on the Thursday apart from the odd owl or fox shreek, we woke friday morning to sunshine. Chilled most of friday and took a wander round Plymouth then headed back to the event site mid afternnon to sign on and get sorted for the start of the weekends racing.

Time was ticking by, and i was starting to wonder, would James and Niall make the relay? But soon after half six they arrived after a mega journey! We blagged Lee Williams for the relay, which saw us off to a good start, but from there on our relay skills took a turn for the worse and we didnt finish very high up in the results! The rest of the evening was spent chilling and chatting at the camp site with the team. After everyone stared to feel the cold we hit the sack but unfortunately everyone endured the horrendous snoring comming from a certain tent near by!!

Mel was first out to race on the Saturday and after having months of her bike due to injury, had a fantastic race and finished 9th, closely behind 8th. Well done Mel!!

Poor old Niall raced on a borrowed singlespeed 69er!! going up the climb after the feed zone looked like tortcher! But never the less he complete his race and James raced without any major problems.

3pm soon came round and it was time for Phils race, so me and the kids headed to the river crossing, which was fantastic to watch, (although nobody took a dip for us!) Phil came out of the crossing in about 8/9th place. Then we headed up to the feedzone to do our usual duties! under the 20 minutes mark and the leaders were coming. Then the churning stomach moment, ah! Phil pops over the brow in 3rd place. The positioning at the front of the race pretty much stayed the same all race and Phil came over the line with a happy 3rd place!Claiming 2nd overall in the series.

After the podiums it was on to the next major race for the Morris clang! The kids race, Hali-Rae following in her dad's footsteps competed in the under 8's race racing for 12 minutes on her like-a- bike and did 3 laps virtually unadided by dad!

Then something very unusual occured, Phil had the kid's behind the XCRacer bar, handing out beer's to fellow racers and I (Mrs Morris) lined up to do the Floodlight Shred cyclocross. My first ever cyclcross race and for that fact bike race. I was the only woman competing which was a bit nerve raking because I was worried about getting in peoples way but I have to say I was very pleased with my race and only had to get off at one point as I slipped!! Feeling quite good for 4 laps, with the encouragemnt from the sideline (thank you people!) but then my legs just felt like they were not turning!! but I finished even though I was lapped by the top guns about 4 times!!!

We stayed saturday night and madly got up early spent an hour and a half packing up a frozen tent and gazebo and headed back over the bridge to Crickhowell to race the first round Welsh cyclocross. Phil was not 100% about even taking part (due to the fact of racing hard the day before and the 3 hour drive to Crick!) However, he suprised hisself and finsihed 6th in the seniors.

In summary, a b****y long weekend of racing but worth every minute of it!! Well done to Martyn and his team again for a fantastic weekend of racing and end of season party atmosphere. Kinda looking forward to 2011 already!!
