Its now only a week to go to the West Drayton Mountain Bikes 7th Night of the Knobbly Tread race which is to be held at Black Park Country Park, situated near to Slough and easily accessed by the M4/M40 and M25 and which is held on Saturday 9th September .
The Black Park venue has an established history in the mountain Bike calendar having hosted MTB races for the last 10 years ,including rounds of the Southern XC series, over the years the single track has evolved and some technical sections have been added The Night race will include some of the less tricky of those sections but at speed and in the dark the single track which is flowing and tight in places will certainly become technical. The venue always produces close fast racing with no hills to split the field
Rather than the usual endurance format of most Night races this is short cross country racing at its best but in the dark, with race times likely to be around the 1hr 15 min mark for the open event. The event caters for all adult classes and includes a fun category
Currently the tracks are in tip top condition with no mud and are riding well
and close, fast racing will be the order of the day.
Sponsorship from the Specialized Concept store in Ruislip will enable those at the sharp end to come away with some great prizes and the champagne has been bought for those end of race podium presentations. There is also a fastest lap of the Night award sponsored by www.bucks sportive.co.uk with a cash prize of £50
For those wanting to check the circuit out, riders from the promoting West Drayton MBC club will be bedding the race circuit in by completing some laps this Thursday evenings and guests are welcome to attended.
