2XC Series Final 2013 Haldon Forest

Here is a message from the series organiser:

"A great summers day greeted the finale of the 2XC Hot Pursuits / Scott series at Haldon Forest. Despite low numbers in the first race, the usual suspects attended to secure their series wins and we saw a great win by a juvenile beating the older age groups. This was Joe Barker (South Fork Racing) who is currently a top ten ranked Juvenile rider nationally.

In the second race it was great to see James Davey (Hot Pusuit Cycles) take his second overall win in the series with a dominating display. I can think back to last season when James rode his first 2XC events and was just getting into cross country. Our series is all about providing an opportunity for riders like James to experience xc racing and learn the ropes before going onto bigger events. It's great to see him doing well and we wish him look at Hadleigh farm next weekend.

Another rider who entered her first xc event this year is Alicia Hockin. She has stuck with it through the series and and earned her second place in the overall sport women category, finishing third in the final. She also won a Scott Aspect 650 mountain bike when her number came up in the series podium position draw. Well done! Carly Portlock (Bamboo Bikes) has enjoyed a good season of racing and took first position in the series.

Finally, a huge thanks to everyone who has helped out this year to make the series the best we've run so far, in no particular order and I apologise for missing anyone out Team Birchill, Kris Pratt, Sam & Jim Cann, Andrew (Its my job ...) Parker, Hot Pursuit Cycles, Ranger Gemma, Ranger Tim, all the volunteer marshals with free entries ;-), riders for taking part and the weather!"
