Its now just over 4 weeks to go to the 4th running of the Exposure Night of the Knobbly Tread event at Black Park on October 18th, this event fills a gap between the long endurance type events that normally take place over night, giving riders who like the idea of racing in the dark but can not commit to an overnight race a chance to sample the buzz of riding off road in the dark. The event caters for all standards of riders with the fun riders starting at 7 p.m. and then at 8 p.m. it is time for the more experienced riders with races for all categories.
The event is based at Black Park Country Park which is close to Slough and is easily accessible from the M25/M40 and the M4, although a flat venue the organising team, the West Drayton MBC have found some lovely flowing single track and a few bomb holes to keep everyone on their toes and fast close racing will be the order of the day.
Last years ladies winner Cat Ross the Elite Southern champion has already entered and will no doubt be the lady to beat in her category with Isaac Pucci last years male elite winner expected to return to defend his title, whilst last years vets winner was 2013 National Champion, Lewis King.
With a number of sponsors on board including Exposure Lights, Beyond Mountain Bikes,Bucks off road sportive and Party Lights there will be some good prizes on offer, these will be presented at the end of the evenings racing whilst riders can dig into the free hamburgers and tea which are provided for all the competitors.
For those wanting a sneaky preview of the course the promoting club will be organising some reconnaissance sessions around the circuit every Thursday leading up to the event, but remember the venue is a country park and the racing will have to be saved for event day.
Pre entry is strongly advised.
On line entry is via the British cycling website and full details can be found at www.blackparkraces.co.uk or e-mail organiser Chris Denman at Chris@westdraytonmbc.co.uk for further details.
