Just 1 week to go until the BigBlack Park weekend of XC, Crits, Duathlon and hair and make-up! Details from the organisers are below.

This year is the 3rd running of the Exposure Lights, Night of the Knobbly Tread event and the promoting team from West Drayton MBC have been working hard at the Black Park Venue to make sure the regulars at this venue have some new trails to tackle on race day the 19th October.

This event has really taken on, filling a gap in the market as most of the traditional night time events are usually long Endurance events but this is a short night time cross country race featuring both a fun event for those yet to sample the intense buzz of racing in the dark and an open event for those experienced night time racers. With the races being close to Halloween, in addition to the prizes for the first across the line and age related prizes there will be prizes for the riders sporting the best fancy dress.

Entry on the night will be available for the event, pre –entry available here

This year in addition to the two cross country races the evening entertainment is going to start with a night time Dirt crit eliminator race sponsored by, carrying a £100 first prize this will be held close to the event HQ on a small tight circuit, the format being that after one warm up lap, the last riders over the line every lap are eliminated until the bunch is down to 4 riders when it will be time to sprint for the all important podium places and money. The first 20 riders entering the open or fun event can get a free entry to this elimination race.

For those wanting a pre view of the course there will be familiarisation sessions at the venue on the two Thursday’s preceding the event.

The team have put together a short video of part of the course showing the current excellent trail conditions and it can be downloaded here

The promoting team can confirm a host of supporting companies who are assisting with the supporting this event with the main sponsor back for the 3rd year running. Other sponsors include Party Lights, The Bucks Off Road Sportive, , long term club sponsors Beyond Mountain Bikes as well as new for this year who have donated some great prizes for the winners of the open and fun women’s class a free hair and make-up make-over package with airbrushed photos by Make-up Artist Amrita Dhanjal so those on the podium should be going home with some nice goodies.

Race distances are 15miles for the open event and 9 miles for the fun race, the circuit is a fast twisting 3 mile circuit that will be a mixture of wide forest tracks and tight single track. Good lights are required!

The West Drayton MBCs Black Park Duathlon is now only 2 weeks away and the circuits for both the run and the bike ride have been finalised with some new tracks cut in and riding well.

The race once again offers something for true duathletes, runners and mountain bikers and all are expected to do battle for supremacy and take the podium places and generous prizes supplied by race and West Drayton club sponsors Beyond Mountain Bikes, with further sponsorship provided by Go Ape, who have a centre within the park, The Bucks Off Road Sportive and there are some great goodies to win .

Last years victor Jim Mc Connell returns to defend his title, whilst the woman’s title is up for grabs with Maddie Horton unable to defend her title due to work commitments.

Race format is that the event starts with a  3 mile run followed by a 12 mile mountain bike ride and then a further 3 mile run to finish. The mountain bike race will be around a very similar course to the previous days Exposure Lights night time cross country race with the run around a separate off road circuit. These will be new circuits from last year - Solo and team entries are welcome

On line pre entry remains open to the 16th October however entry on the day will be available.
