Round 5 of the British National Cross Country Series has been postponed due to a water-logging - British Cycling posted the following release:

"This weekend's fifth and final round of the 2012 British Cycling National Cross-Country series has been postponed due to water-logging at the Langdon Hills venue in Essex.

Recent storms have left the venue extremely wet and with further heavy rain forecast for the next few days, there was no alternative but to call off the event.

Reports from the set-up team at the venue are that the main arena and camping areas are, in particular, badly hit, with even tractors struggling to get onto the field.

A provisional re-schedule for the weekend of 15-16 September is now being planned. We'll keep you up to date with these plans.

Refunds will be available for all riders who do not wish to ride the re-scheduled event."

If you're desperate to get on with some riding then the Chain Reaction Marathon has a sunny forecast. Also if you are tough enough we had the Army banging on our door too! - "In the light of the cancellation of the national XC race please be aware the Are You Tough Enough is up and running what is currently a mainly dry and fast course. The arena is in good condition and will hold up well. Should people wish to camp on Saturday night they are welcome to do so. Further information can be found at www.areyoutoughenough.co.uk Entries on the line are available, please allow some extra time to get to site as surrounding roads may be busy due to an airshow. Please use J3 of the M3."
