South West Series - 10 days to go.

On the weekend of 6-7th April 2013 the Juice Lubes South West Series kicks off with its first weekend event, hosted by Fully Sussed.

The weekend kicks off with open practice for the XC race at Wheal Maid Valley, nr Redruth.  The course will be fully marked out from 2pm on Saturday and riders are welcome to head on down to check it out.  There will be no marshals on site, so you ride at your own risk.  

The camping field will also be open from 2pm.  

To get to the Wheal Maid Valley XC course follow your Sat Nav to TR16 5HY, or use a good old fashioned map to get to St. Day, nr Redruth.  The car park, event arena and camping field will be signposted from these locations.

Once you've set up your tent and had a ride around the course, head on down to The Track at Portreath for your first instalment of the South West MTB Series.  Venue link: www.the-track.co.uk/

Hotlaps will be set up on a short, fast and furious XC loop within this incredible venue.  The loop will include several line choices to cater for those who like to keep the wheels on the ground, and those who don't.  The course will be open from 1730, and will be timed between 1830 and 2000.  Do one lap or fifty - the idea is to post the fastest single lap you can in the 90 minutes.

The leader board will be updated throughout the evening and you will be kept abreast of your fastest lap times.  We will be awarding prizes for the fastest male and female on the course, and more importantly, your fastest lap time will give you your first set of points for the South West Series.  The Track's Snack Shack (try saying that quickly) will be open throughout to keep you fuelled, and you can expect the usual Fully Sussed vibe, and Jay's non-stop commentary.

You can also pick up your number board for the XC event when you sign in for Hotlaps.  When you've had your fill of the Track, head on back to the camping field and relax before it all kicks off again on Sunday.

The second instalment of the Juice Lubes South West Series takes place on Sunday 7th April with the XC event at Wheal Maid Valley.  Again, follow TR16 5HY, or get to St. Day, nr Redruth then pick up the event signposts.  Registration will be open from 0800 and at 1000 the Fun, Juvenile, Youth, Junior, Sport, Expert/Elite and ALL female categories will start their races.

At 1215 the Under 12s will race on a shorter, but equally fun and challenging version of the XC course.  

The entry fee for Under 12s is £3 on the day.

At 1300 the Master, Vet and Grand Vet men get to show us they are not too old to have some fun in the final race of the day.

Gridding for the XC races will be based on 2013 series standings - so the Hotlaps event at Portreath will be really important if you want to line up on the front row.  After this we will grid on 2012 South West Series and on BC ranking points.

The event will give riders a chance to preview the course we will be using at round 2 of the British XC Series when we drag it down to Cornwall (for the very first time!) at the end of April, and give us a chance to make sure it all works.
