The surprise hit event of 2014 is back and set to be bigger and better. Howies Battle on the Beach is back on March 22nd, 2015 with entries set to open at midnight on January 1st. The UK’s only bicycle beach race in the UK will be held in Pembrey Country Park on the South Wales Coast.

Once a M.O.D playground, used as a munitions factory for World War 1 & 2, riders will have to ride over ex military tracks, through old tunnels and round pillboxes… but hopefully the bomb squad won’t be called this year!

Set against the spectacular backdrop of the Gower Peninsula and coastal scenery of Carmarthen Bay, the event is open to all off-road bicycles (MTB & cyclocross). If it rolls on dirt and you can pedal it, it’s fine.

The race will be held at low tide, when the sea water will be a mile offshore, meaning the sand will be rock hard and as fast as the fantastic singletrack hidden behind the dunes in the pine forest. There will be plenty for the serious racers and more than a few surprises around the course to keep everyone on guard and smiling.

There is £1000 cash up for grabs for the victorious, and bundles of swag from the sponsors howies, ENVE, Lezyne and Schwalbe.

Camping is included for the Saturday night when there will also be the Kinesis UK roller racing for anyone to take part. With kids races also on the Sunday morning plus Frog bike roller racing Saturday night, the beautiful park and miles of beach means the family will have something to do when they are not shouting at you.

If the kids think watching you race is boring, Pembrey Country Park has the longest toboggan run in Wales, Segway rides, pony trekking, a 130 metre long dry ski slope, a giant adventure playground and 8 Wildlife trails with set routes.

Entries open at midnight January 1st – Last year the event sold out in 3 days, so don’t delay!
