Well the great news is that Racing returns to Black Park very soon on March 1st with the venue being selected to host the 1st round of the prestigious Southern Mountain Bike series, the Southern Mountain Bike series is only second to the National Points series in terms of importance for the XC racers.
The series is made up of 6 events at 6 different and varied venues and although the promoting club, the West Drayton MBC have organised events as part of the series previously this will be the first time that the long established race venue Black Park will host a round.
As the venue benefits from permanent toilets, 2 cafés as well as a car park that is hard standing and a course that stands up well to bad weather it makes an ideal host for the opening early season round and a bumper field is anticipated.
With kind permission from Bucks County Council and the assistance of rangers Tim Williams and Matt Madill the club have been busy clearing tracks to ensure even the most hardened regulars at the venue will find some new and interesting terrain.
Although a flat circuit don't be fooled the racing will be intense with plenty of single track to test the reactions and will include a number of bomb holes to test the bike handling.
Full details of race times and of the age categories are on the Southern website http://www.southernxc.net
