Well where do I start. I had planned on doing Dalby and Donna had even packed the kids stuff but in the week leading up to the race the Forcast was looking fairly grim. So Thursday evening we decided that it wouldn't be worth dragging the kids on a 6 hour trip. At this point I was still planning on doing the event. On Friday I started to think about the trip up and I was struggling to find any entusasuim for it! I just didn't fancy a 6 hour trip on my own to spend the weekend cold and wet!
I think I must be getting soft in my old age! This is the first time i've ever not gone to an event I've already entered.
I have to admit this year I have lost a bit of drive having been put into the Expert cat and I find myself looking forward to the team and endurance events more than previous years, as I don't really have any goals in the XC which is a bit of a shame!
After seeing the pictures and results I did feel a bit disappointed that I decided to jib, but thinking about the trip and damage I probably would have inflicted on myself and bike I didn't feel to bad!!
Well after a bit of a ear bashing from team manager and wife I think this will have to be the first and last time I decide to enter an event and not actually race in it!
On the plus side I did manage a nice 3.5hr ride on the sunday!
This weekend will see me back on my bike at top barn farm. The weather actually looks like it's going to be worst than Dalby!
Thanks and apoligies to my team for such a poor effort!!
