Managed to damage my shoulder two weeks ago. Physio says its not torn but a strained suprespinatus so cycling is a no-no for now.

I can ride a stationary bike and have just bought a turbo trainer. Most of my riding has been in the 90-120 mins range with only a couple of 40 mile rides (46 miles in 4:10 with 4000ft climbing my longest ride) so any suggestions for maximising the turbo trainer would be great.

Really gutted as my fitness was coming along nicely after just getting back into cycling after a couple of years out of the saddle.

Hoping I'm recovered by the 15th Sept.

If I'm honest unless you can ride easily outdoors by the end of August I wouldn't bother starting as you could set yourself back a long time.

Good luck with the recovery.  I'm trying the Time Crunched Cyclist this year, which has an 8-12 week Century programme.  Might be worth looking at for some ideas for the turbo sessions (lots of long intervals at Steady State; slightly shortly Over/Under ones, and some flat-out Power intervals too).  I'd also recommend doing some core work, when you're able to, as the distance and terrain are very hard on the lower back area.  Hope that helps!

Thanks for the advice. I wont do the race unless I feel fully fit as I am aware how much damage I could do to my shoulder.

Core strength work is a good idea, something that I've neglected, and I have had a slightly sore back on the longer 4+hr rides that I've completed.

And shall be trying gear cables with continuous outers - I couldn't get the lowest three gears from about 35 miles in.
