I presume this will be old news for most people by the time they see it, but lets all drown our sorrows together.
You could instead try the 130 km Red Kite Elan Valley Challenge in Wales on 23 June??
A bit shorter and not a race but maybe even tougher.
I'm planning to give it a go but would like as many other people as possible around me after the 50km and 80km slackers head for home!!
I'm at the long course it will be immense.
23rd June I'll be preparing for Iron Bike!
I am working the whole weekend, so no Red Kite for me
I had been looking forward to Kielder and my whole work/holiday/race/train scheduled was geared towards it. This is the first year I haven't entered 3 peaks cyclocross for example, as I cannot take two whole weekends off in September. It is now too late to enter Three Peaks and I am at a loose end with 4 days off in September and no more race focus for the year...
Well, Salzkamergut Trophy in July, but that was meant as training for the Kielder and through a slow recovery after an operation and a car accident I am no longer up for the long route (over 200 kms and 7000 metres of climbing) Still, the B-route with almost 120 kms and almost 4000 metres of climbing should be satisfying...
Anyone any ideas for big races in September at the same weekend as Kielder?
No idea as regards your September question, however have you done the Salzkammergut 211km before? I've entered and have no idea what I've let myself in for. Any advice appreciated.
Salzkammergut 211km 28th 50+
Riva del Garda 2015 8th 50+
Alpen Tour 15th 50+
Hanneke - not a race but if you look me up on Singletrack (gee) I've posted about a Surrey Hills epic 100 mile ride on the same day. Quite a few takers.
