Anyone have any tips or recommendations for companies and or policies for racing XC abroad, in this case NZ.  Racing XC 24 hours, thinking injury cover for med costs, medical repatriation etc etc, plus or minus insurance for bikes etc too if possible. All help appreciated. Thanks

As soon as you mention racing most insurers don't want to know. I've only found two which would cover me for that sort of trip (WEMBO worlds by any chance?)
Dogtag - cheapest
Snowcard - more expensive but cover bikes as well as you.
IIRC it was £200ish for three weeks in Oz with Snowcard, full package with £3k of bike cover. just in case the airline lost/broke it. Used them a year later for the Mega and the 24hr at Finale, about £230 for a year's multitrip cover in Europe. Anything outside the EU will be pricey.

I used Snowcard when I did the Roc D'Azur last year and I normally use them for Snowboarding too. As mentioned above, they're not the cheapest, but you can tailor your cover through the website

I used Dogtag for this year's event (IronBike in Italy), and have used them in the past for the Chemins du Soleil randonnee in France too. There are different categories of riding covered, make sure you use the one that covers racing.

Had no issues, but then I've never had to make a claim, so hard to judge.

I've been using JS insurance, might be an option for you?  Lots of sports cover available.
