We know it is only March and spring has barely made an appearance but with the online entry for the Halo Oktoberfest powered by Heritage Volkswagen going live on the 1st April we thought it is time to let everybody know about the 2015 version of Bikefest’s Bavarian brother.

OktoberFestThe Oktoberfest is a solo, pairs and team relay race held on the 10km long singletrack packed all weather course in Ashton Court, Bristol.

With solo and pair entries for the Ritchey Bristol Bikefest (www.bike-fest.com) being sold out for weeks and the team categories filling up quickly we expect the Oktoberfest to see a similar run – so in particular if you missed out on a solo or pair entry at the Bikefest make sure you get your details and credit card ready when the entry opens at 8am on Wednesday the 1st April - click here to enter.

Originally set up as the autumn alternative to the summer Bikefest the Halo Oktoberfest powered by Heritage Volkswagen has firmly put itself next to it’s brother equalling the amount of riders joining the fun year after year. With more than 1300 riders from all over the country at the Oktoberfest in 2014, the ‘Fest’ combines a unique ‘laid back’ atmosphere with some of the best riding you can find in the UK and a little bit of a Bavarian touch.

The 2015 Halo Oktoberfest will once again cram everything into just one day with the popular 8hour team, pairs and solo event as well as two 4hour events – one starting AM and one PM. The event will once more be based around the fantastic Ashton Court course and will feature the Bikefest typical relaxed atmosphere, smooth overall organisation plus a little bit of an ‘Bavarian twist’. Title sponsor ISON distribution will show once again a huge array of their products including their latest fat bike products (expect the chance to try a few fatties as well) and Duck Smart will be on site helping riders to keep their bikes clean and running well.

Similarly to the Bikefest the Oktoberfest will also feature the recently added ‘Young’uns’ (14-17 years) and the ‘Super Old Gits’ (50+ years) category.

So be prepared for swoopy single track, oompah music, a great event village, superb event catering, some (not Bavarian) tunes during the day and in the evening, pretzels as medals and some ‘Weissbier’ at the bar!

To enter simply go to our entry page where you can download an entry form or use the secure online entry. Don’t worry if you don’t know your team members or even category yet as you can change that at a later stage – in fact as late as the signing on day.

Other events in our 2015 line-up:
June 2015 is all about the Ritchey Bikefest powered by Heritage Volkswagen for us. And with the entry list filling up in record time we are expecting another sell out event. In fact it looks very unlikely that we will be able to offer entries on the day. So if you fancy some 1st class singletrack heavy racing around our superb all weather track then make sure you get your entry in now.

Part of the Bikefest will be the ‘Steve Worland ride singletrack hard & drink a swig of cider per lap memorial cup 2015’ in honour or dearly missed friend, cycling journalist and all-round singletrack extraordinaire. All profits of the SWMC will go to the Psoriasis Association Charity. Contrary to the main event the SWMC still has solo and pairs entries available. You can find details here.

And if you fancy a little bit of skinny tyre action instead or as well then make sure you check out our ‘all new’ BW Bristol Belter powered by Merida Bikes road sportive. After being based at Redwood Lodge for the first 5 years the event has uprooted and found a new home at the Fry Club in Keynsham. 3 new courses will be on offer – starting with the 70km (44miles) long Mini Belter, followed by the 100km (63miles) long Short Belter and going all the way out to the 160km (100miles) long Full Belter. Entry is open now (click here for ENTRY) and you can find all the details including course maps and profiles on our event website www.bristolroadsportive.co.uk.
