As I sit here writing I can't believe I'm actually at home on a Friday evening.  It's been quite a while since I haven't been away for the weekend competing on the Superfly.  I'm not stopping this weekend, but the Nutcracker rd2 is only 25mins up the road so camping does appear to be a little excessive.

After 10 under the Ben it was 5hrs back down the road to Harrogate, a quick unpack interspersed by the Monaco GP and it was all go for part two.  I was mainly working in Leamington Spa this week so in went the road bike since I hadn't had time to fully clean the 29er (sorry James!).

Monday came and it was back onto the motorway to head south, my body at this point thinking it was born to sit in a car.  Leamington seemed like a nice place and I was really fortunate to know Martin Smith of Godiva Trailriders to show me around on Tuesday evening and get a pleasant 2.5hrs on the roads.  It's great when you have someone to show you around as I had no idea where I was going, although to be fair Martin didn't seem to either!  We only rode down one dead end....

Godiva Trailriders are doing a mass exodus to Bontrager 24/12 this year with quite a few taking on the 12hr enduro and at least one team in the 24hr.  My tip is to make your way over to their base as Martin was keener on telling me about the beer cooler they were organising rather than spending 12hrs on his bike.

Then before I could really settle down, bum back in car and up home on Thursday night in the steaming afternoon heat.  Could the temp gauge really be reading 25c!!!!!  Crazy, no way I was going to miss out on this.  6.30am start the next day, road bike successfully hauled out of the boot and I set off on to work.  It's great having friends from work keen to ride and a group of us met at 7.30 for a circuit to make best use of the rapidly warming day.  This tactic also works best if you all run late, safety in numbers.

I'm not militant, but when the clock ticks round to 5 on a Friday but it's not going to be long before you see dust rising.  A pleasant ride back home the long way in the evening heat and I rode past a flock of lambs feeding on a patch of wild garlic.  What an excellent idea, food that knows how to prepare itself.  What will farmers think of next?
