The first national of the year is fast approaching and the pile of bike bling for the team is quickly piling up in my lounge... Enough Accelerade to fuel an army, enough team kit for the muddiest of 24hr races, enough Mt Zoom exotica for the pimp-est bike, enough Crankskins for the worst heel scuffers and that's before we get our custom team edition Exposure lights!

Next to these are some rather tasty handbuilt wheels from BETD Goldtec. The ubiquitous superlight Stan's No Tubes rims, laced to Goldtec Pro Competition hubs in XCracer.com blue and with riders names custom etched on them. Schweeet! Good bike shops are as addictive as Class A **** (add your chosen poison here), but I can't think of any others that have an 'Alice in Wonderland' door hidden at the back of the shop that leads into a workshop full of CNC lathes!

While I was getting my forks serviced in time for Sherwood, I've borrowed a friendly Trek reps bike for the week for some "product training" and to make the most of the awesome trail conditions we're currently enjoying. I can't grow enough facial hair to be a proper 29er zealot - all bikes are good as far as I'm concerned - but if I'm gonna ride a 26er for the first time in ages then it's got to be a good one and oh my days, his Trek Top Fuel 9.9ssl is a heck of a lot of fun :-)

Good luck to everyone on Sunday, hope it's not too much of a shock to the system - and that's not just the sight of so many pasty white chicken legs after a long winter of modesty protecting thermals :-)
