Life behind bars – March.

It’s easy to get caught up with training. Hours upon hours of sweating in the garage or out on the trails, worrying about what zones you should be in or how well your training. But are we just missing the point?

I personally don’t see myself as the usual Elite mountain biker, I love riding my bike and I love training but to me there’s more to it than that. To me it’s about being outside, it’s about breaking the routine and enjoying the views, embracing the smells and riding with great people in beautiful places. Cycling is a way of really exploring where we live and enjoying what we have on our doorstep.

With cycling you’re able to cover greater areas and travel to new places. Mountain biking brings this to the next level as your able to experience all of this as well as getting into some wilderness.

As a cyclist we are more in touch with the seasons, we know exactly what weather we should expect and usually do a good job at moaning when its not doing as it should!

I have learnt to love the county I live in. To most Northamptonshire / Leicestershire is a flat and dull county. To me it’s full of crippling climbs and rolling hills with beautiful views that stretch out for miles. It’s a mix of either gusty flat land fenlands that stretch out towards Cambridge or alternatively I can head out into Rutland where there is none stop rolling hills as used in the world-renowned Rutland Classic road race.

So as a way of celebrating the fantastic views and experiences that I come across daily whilst training I am going to post some of my best photos of the month!

A very foggy early morning ride to work.

Rutland viaduct and the spring sun. Just a shame about that wind!
Sunset on Pitsford water, the lighter nights are coming!!
The first warm sunday ride and the skin was out for James Hyde!

Take a moment and enjoy your surroundings next time your out smashing that internal session.
