Despite the mild temperatures of late, it's fair to say that winter is back! With it comes the time to get ready for the 2014/15 Red Kite Winter XC series taking place from November 30th through to February 22nd 2015.

This five round series takes in some of the very best trails in Mid-Wales and is based at the much loved Coed Trallwm MTB Centre. The series attracts riders of all abilities from across Wales, the Midlands, Herefordshire and beyond featuring a mix of red and black trail centre trails with natural, technical singletrack and fast, swooping fire road.

The courses have been designed to be rideable by all abilities. Less experienced riders can roll everything whilst the more experienced will fly through some of the more twisty sections with the biggest grin imaginable! All riders will no doubt savour the epic views.

Whilst four of the five rounds will follow the standard '2 hours plus one lap' format, Round 3 will be slightly different. Taking place on January 4th 2015, the Frozen Devil round will be a 60km loop with timed sections within it. Test out your endurance and scratch that racing itch at the same time in one event.

Coed Trallwm has been selected as the base for all the events as it has all the ingredients needed for a great event HQ. From hard standing car parks to all weather trails and a great cafe with log fire to warm you up after all the trail exertions.

This is grassroots XC at its very best so whether you're an Elite rider looking for a winter training session or a first time racer wanting to feel the burn, this is the ideal event series to get your teeth into.

Entry to each round is £11.25 (excluding the Frozen Devil) and race categories will include Youth (12-16), Junior (16-18), Senior (18-39), Expert (18+), Vet (40+) and Women (16+).
