It wasn't exactly blazing sunshine, but at least it wasn't raining (yet) as an all-star cast, including National Champions…

committed travelling regulars and local riders lined up, amongst the runners…

and riders…

at Newnham on Satruday.

Stand out local performances included Maddie Horton,

undoubtedly the politest rider of the day.  How many of you can honestly say you ask "please may I overtake, when it's convenient with you" when lapping a slower rider?  Kim Long added National Series Champion to her SW Champion title.  She looked as calm and composed as ever on the bike, with her highest action photo of the day being a rock star, styling it up moment on the podium.

The course was muddy, rooty, slippery, technical and not without its fair share of thrills and spills, and that was just walking round with a camera!  I'm yet to speak to someone who didn't have a little tumble somewhere.  For most it was a quick hop back onto the bike hoping no-one had noticed.  However, after Jay's 'entertaining'  commentary at the summer series Circus of Dirt events, there were no shortage of comments about how he should complain to the course designer (himself) when he took a dive into the bracken.  One top SW rider even suggested he should consider going on a FullySussed Skils course!

Seriously, the consensus in the car park was definitely a national standard course.  Well done to the Hortons once again.  Also a huge 'thank you' to the organisers, helpers, marshals and supporters.
