Don't you just hate those photographers that hang about at mtb events for no apparent reason, taking pictures, but never actually getting one of you.  Clearly they deliberately miss the amazing trick you did, only to catch the moment when you slide to an ungraceful stop in the mud.  So, with Charles Whitton on official photographer duties, how to convince you of any valid reason for me to be there at all?

Firstly my excuse, Snapper Chick is the semi-official photographer for Southfork racing.  The team were certainly in impressive form with (I think) the fastest three riders over 60km and four of the top five.  Clearly not quite so good at listening, I'm sure Martyn Salt announced that it was a non-competitive event!

Actually it was great not having to attempt to photograph every single rider.  You were, of course, all absolutely brilliant, riding in very tough, muddy conditions.  The good part, photographically speaking, was having time to move about the course and try different shots.  Here are a few of my favourites…

Most of all it was great to catch up with lots of friends, many of whom I otherwise wouldn't see in the quiet season for mtb racing.  Finally, and most importantly, a big 'thank you' to the organisers who also struggled through the winter conditions to get everything setup for the event.
