12th July sees a brand new event introduced to the MTB world...

Whatever your personal flavour of MTB, the Techie Devil in Llanwrtyd Wells has something for you. For the XC and trail riding guys and girls, it offers up 50km of some of Mid-Wales’ finest riding. For the gravity-fuelled fraternity, the route will take in a number of the Mondraker Enduro Series descents – widely acclaimed for their technical and demanding nature by riders and media alike.

In short, the Techie Devil is a real mountain biking event that defies a label. It’s laid back and fun mountain biking at its very best. It is a technical trail ride with a few WTF moments thrown in but with everything being rollable and designed to help you challenge yourself in a relaxed environment.

This event is all about the riding and hanging out with your mates on the very best trails in the area with a great atmosphere, broom wagon support, medical support and, hopefully, with sunshine and dusty trails.

Some of the route will be using private land which is only available for the Techie Devil so it will be your only chance to ride some of Wales’ best kept MTB secrets!

Rider times for the complete loop will be provided but there will not be an official food stop. However, the route will pass a great, bike friendly cafe twice so you won’t go hungry.

The event will have a staggered start (start any time between 9.30 and 10.30) and camping will be available on Saturday night for just £5 per tent. Entry is £23 online or £30 on the day if places are still available. Rider numbers will be limited to 300. Full details can be found at www.redkiteevents.co.uk or by following Red Kite Events on Facebook and Twitter @redkiteevents1

In a world of labels and niches, the Techie Devil is a good old fashioned ride out with fellow mountain bikers. What you wear, what you ride and how you approach it is up to you.
