Tame Britain’s longest MTB marathon!

There are MTB marathons and then there’s the Devil’s Challenge!

With the MTB marathon scene booming in the UK right now, Mid-Wales based Red Kite Events have upped the ante with a 130km timed ride through some of Wales’ best and most demanding countryside.

For those of you not quite fit enough for the long route though, they also run a 55km (1800m climbing) and 85km (2950m climbing) alongside the monster 130km (4493m climbing) distance. The course is designed to be a real mountain biker’s course with technical challenges and steep climbs and descents aplenty. It is certainly not for the feint hearted!

Starting at Llanwrtyd Wells, the route takes in the very best of the stunning Cambrian Mountains along flowing singletrack, rooty descents and prolonged technically challenging sections.

The event is a non-competitive but professionally timed event. Feedstations can be found en route (two for 55k and 85k routes, three for the 130km route) stocked with home made flapjacks, Welsh cakes and savoury options courtesy of The Drover’s Rest Restaurant as well as sports nutrition products from High 5.

Upon crossing the finish line, there will be a finsher’s T-shirt and a pasta meal waiting for you courtesy of The Drover’s Rest.

Camping is available at Dolwen Fields in Llanwrtyd Wells at a price of £5 per tent and should be booked through the Red Kite Events website when you register.

Registration is £25 if you pre enter. Limited on the day entries may be available and will cost £35 9 (email to check).
