There is a saying - 'behind every successful man, is a great woman'.  But this is true of all people who strive at achieving their goal.

I've ticked many boxes on my training journey so-far:

1 gruelling training schedule consisting of mountain biking, turbo training, running and anything else I can find to make me ache - check

2 use a great bike - Santa Cruz answered by prayers - check

3 read articles, blogs, google emails ANYTHING which may help me gain further knowledge about endurance racing - check

4 find my 'wall' and break through it - thanks to some pretty atrocious weather on Easter Monday, I broke that barrier! - check

The list is still growing, but I have had one major issue which could make the whole event for me fall apart in an instant - will the children behave and be happy?  Will Matt realistically be able to manage them and help me?

I had a dream of Matt and the children camping and Matt being on hand to help should I need him, but will Millie decide she needs mummy to play barbies and not take no for an answer, will Isaac get bored and find it fun to let the air out of my tyres and put mud in my water bottle, Freya will love it but not understand why I can't stop to chat every lap.

I have one thing that I know most of the other riders won't have - a full on support team to see me through the finish line, but I think that is exactly where they should be - there for the FINISH, not to see mummy having a near breakdown and rubbing Sudocrem onto areas only babies should need it.

Putting up some of the articles recently where people have either completed their first 24 hour, or writing from a more experienced point of view, it is clear that a great pit system is just as important as the work you put in prior.  The one person who I know I can rely on to know when I need help - before I do - is Matt.  He has been abused, kicked, punched and sworn at during the birth of our children, so this should be a breeze!

One phone call later and my father in law (Pop's) has it all taken care of - one wonderful phone call later and I have my children eating snacks in front of the telly late at night, endless stories being read at bedtime and very very happy children which frees up my wonderful husband who now wears the badge of 'Pit Bitch'!

Pop's will bring my welcome committee up to Plymouth on Sunday morning where I can be reminded of why I am doing this in the first place - to inspire my children to do anything they set their hearts on and work their arses off for.

Behind every successful man is a great woman, but behind me is the greatest man and a very very successful family.
