Who: Nico Polfliet

Where: Houffalize, Belgium

Nico wears full team kit made by G-Skin Cycling Team Wear. (G-Skin kit can be found here)

Nico is the son of Raf and Lydia Polfliet, owners of the Belgian team, Vanomobil MTB Cycling Team (http://www.mtb-vanomobilcycling.eu/). Dressed from head to toe in full team kit and sporting a huge, mischievous and toothy grin he has yet to grow into, Nico cannot be missed. Despite his evident cheeky nature he answered my questions with thought and pride. -

How does it feel to wear the same kit as one of the best MTBers in Belgium?
"It's lovely to ride with Jonas [De Backer - 3rd Belgian XC Champs] in the same team. I've known him for years, even when he was in another team. Next year will be his 3rd year in our team. He treats every member of the team the same and sometimes I'm going with him to recognize [reconnoitre] the lap at a race."

Do you always wear your team kit to ride in?
"Ja, I always wear my team clothes. During the week at trainings, during the weekend before, during and after the race. I believe it shows respect to the team and to the sponsors. I even wear my team coat at school! But that's because I'm just proud that my parents are the team owners and they do so much for it."

What score out of ten would you give your kit?
"8/10. The chamois is good, just as the overall material is. The wintervest is not as warm as my previous one but it's ok. Everything fits really well, that's another reason I like to wear it so much."

What are your go-to winter riding items?
"Winter gloves, winter shoes, winter vest, winter pants [longs!], thermal underclothes and a hat. I wear a lot of warm clothes because winters can be really cold in Belgium and I like it to be hot!"

Finally, does looking fast make you ride faster?
"[haha] Yes, a little bit I think!"
