Tim is more of a road and cyclocross man than a cross-country rider, although he does race off-road too. No baggy shorts and flappy kit, just the same kit he would wear for blasting about on the 'cross bike. His cycling kit - the Nalini jersey jumper and cap - is also a nod towards his style off the bike. A fan of retro gear, Tim seems to be a trendy chap without really trying.
Along with a few spares, Tim had his trusty waterproof jacket tucked in his back pocket for the inevitable looking rain heading our way. "I always carry a waterproof. You don't know it's there, but you are definitely thankful to have it when the heavens open!".
"Yes I love new, shiny kit, but if a piece of clothing is warm and comfortable and can get caked in dirt without any worry then that is what I will wear for winter training."
His decision on what to wear for this training ride with friends on a cold and grey October morning was a made by looking out of the window and subsequently rummaging around for something that was warm and not too precious to be uniformly mud-coloured upon return.
It was a good choice. The day's first drops of rain fell just as the group left.
