Before the chequered flag has even been waved at the final round of the 2012 MTB Cross-Country Series taking place this weekend, British Cycling have announced the dates for your diary of next years series.

The series opens as ever at Sherwood Pines in March, followed by a trip down to Cornwall with the Fully Sussed crew for round 2 in April. After hosting one of the only sunny races of 2012, Hopton Woods in Shropshire will be hoping for more of the same next June, while Margam Park returns to the calendar for round 4. The series finale will take place at Hadleigh Farm in Olympic legacy guise

"The British Cycling co-ordinated series delivered in partnership with regional organisers features races for everyone from under-12s to over-60s and remains the pinnacle of domestic mountain bike competition.

All events have been submitted to the UCI for classification, allowing British riders the opportunity to qualify to race world cup events.
The format for the series weekends will be unchanged, with practice on Saturday and racing on Sunday. Online entries will open later in the year and once again there will be an early bird discount for the full series"

2013 British Cross Country Series:

24 March - Round 1 Sherwood Pines, Notts.
28 April - Round 2 United Downs, Redruth, Cornwall
2 June - Round 3 Hopton Woods, Shropshire
7 July - Round 4 Margam Park, South Wales
18 August - Round 5 Hadleigh Farm, Essex

With races in the Eastern and South West regions, the South of the UK continues to be well served, but with no round in Dalby Forest for 2013, those living North of Nottinghamshire will be intrigued by the venue for the National Champs...

"The 2013 British Championships will serve as a test event for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. The building of the planned trails at Cathkin Braes, Glasgow is already well under way and is due for completion later this year. The Championships will be run by Scottish XC in collaboration with Scottish Cycling and Glasgow City Council."

2013 British Cross Country Championships:

20-21 July National Championships Cathkin Braes, Glasgow

No word yet on dates and venues for the Regional Champs and Marathon Champs, but we'd anticipate at least one of them taking place in May, with the Marathon Champs potentially taking place in September to fall in line with the UCI.
