The last date for entry into the Kielder 100 is this Friday, 26th August! It's shaping up to be the best one yet, with so many entries we've given up counting (it'll be nearly 1000 we reckon).

Andrew Cockburn (Columbia Bikefood) the winner from 2010 is back to defend his title against an onslaught from some top riders. In particular, watch out for Ben Thomas (Torq), Tim Dunford (AW Cycles), Steve James (AW Cycles) and Aussie ringer Andy Fellows (AYUP lights - former world 24 hour champ). There's £1000 up for anyone that could go under 7 hours (maybe Sauser or Absalon!).

In the massive Vets field, with Paul Ashby remaining in the Fens, there will be some stiff competition for the title. Fresh faced Vets, Ant White (Cannondale MT ZOOM), "in form" Rich Rothwell (M Steels) and Mark Spratt (JIF) will no doubt be at the sharp end of things.

We're not sure who can overall Mel Alexander (XCRacer) (Female Category) and Dan Treby (Singular) (Singlespeed), last year's winners?

And while racers nurse their aching muscles with beer & cake afterwards spare a thought for Matt Jones who not satisfied with the 100 miles biking will be carrying on into the small hours by jumping in a kayak and paddling the length of Kielder Water followed by the Kielder Marathon route (in the dark) on the Lakeside way, all in one go! He has aptly named this challenge Killer Kielder.

This is all in aid of raising money for the Calvert Trust Kielder, an outdoor activity centre for adults and children with disabilities based at Kielder. Matt is being supported by Bruichladdich Whisky (which will be needed after all that lot!), M Steel Cycles, Exposure Lights and Purple Mountain . He would also like to thank the Calvert Trust Kielder, the Kielder Partnership and the Forestry Commission for making this challenge a possibility.
