Regular race promoters the West Drayton MBC are proud to announce the 2014 Black Park race date has set for the 1st June with the event once again being held in historic Black Park. Forming part of the back lot to Pinewood studios, this park, which has been used in countless films from Bond to Harry Potter, provides a mixture of twisty singletrack, technical features and fast flowing trails which once again promises to produce another Blockbuster.

Due to the support from the Park Rangers the club have been able to introduce even more new tracks which when combined with the some of the old favourites should give an all-weather lap of about 3.5 miles.

Club Chairman and Race Organiser Chris Denman says “The circuit is comprised of trails that the club members have discovered and regularly ride for fun, it’s great that the park wardens allow us to open this fantastic venue up to the wider racing fraternity so they can also enjoy this splendid location.”

After run of bad weather for the regular March race date this years event has been moved back to June 1st in the hope that sun cream rather than waterproof clothing and umbrellas will be the order of the day.

As a beginner or fun rider this venue makes an excellent first event as everything can be rolled and there are no major climbs. For the more skilful riders the ability to keep the pressure on and fight off the completion whilst skipping over treacherous roots and technical features requires excellent bike handling skill, strength and stamina.

The event will have a number of championships taking place as part of the day, including the Emergency Services Championship with current Champion local rider Cat Ross the hot tip for a repeat victory in the women’s class. The sports/masters event will also incorporate the London Single Speed Championship with the Bucks Off-Road Sportive once again offering a £100 prize for the first male single speed rider resident within the M25.The youth race will give the Central riders two races in one, as in addition to the overall prize list the event incorporates the British Cycling Central championship with medals being presented to the first 3 youth and juvenile riders from the Central region.

Generous sponsorship is from Beyond Mountain Bikes, Bucks Off Road Sportive and Go Ape and will see prizes given out in all categories; all races will have trophies and medals for the first three finishers.

The preceding Saturday the 31st May the club have got a full afternoon of youth races from under 16 to under 8’s on a smaller circuit with each rider guaranteed 2 races during the afternoon
