Intermittent could well be my new buzz word for 2013. It sums up my training to date, perfectly. I have a week where my body thinks it is at some La manga training camp (sort of), other weeks where I'm propping up the bar, this past week though I've been walking around school coughing like an old hag. I've managed to pick up another dose of lurghi from my boys. My two sons trade in lurghi, coughs, colds and bugs in the school playground in the same way that I used to swap Pannini football stickers. Terrible. Of course, this could be me just getting in the excuses early before the first round of the Welsh XC this coming Sunday at Margam Park. Bloody Margam first up, what a prospect, I haven't raced since last October! Those hills don't take any prisoners especially for serial intermittent trainers like myself.

I can't wait though! I can't wait to be back racing again at a venue which it seems has had plenty of speculation surrounding it lately. There is talk of it being used for a World Cup in 2014 and with two rounds of the Welsh XC visiting there this year and the BMBS in June. I thought I had better post a map for those who have never been.

It seems this year that Welsh XC have hired the Fully Sussed gang so as well as those slopes I'll have to endure the merciless commentray of Jay Horton. Intermittent trainers are easy prey to his abusive commentary but at least I'll be able to work out how slow my lap times are this year!

Can't wait for Sunday and thanks to Martyn and Xcracer for inviting me to stay on the team for another year. I'm convinced I'm only here since there is a surplus of Clydesdale kit hanging around in Martyn's cupboard down in Plymouth.

See you all Sunday!
