After last years successful event at wilmington school, team darenth will be promoting the 2012 british schools xc championships.

Unfortunately, this could be the last time we can use our pupose built cross country circuit for racing, due to the school site being re-developed in 2013.  So often, this seems to be the norm -  schools selling off valuable outdoor space to fund other less active areas of the curriculum. The club has spent a lot of time and energy on creating new trails through the school grounds and adjacent woods.  A usual preconception is that as the event is held at a school, the course is mainly through fields, however, riders are pleasantly surprised to find single track, wooded areas and bermed sections.

The date for the championships is Saturday 7th April 2012. The race is open to all school children ranging from seven to over fifteen, plus a senior race later in the afternoon. With over 111 children competing in the six age groups last year, with a generous pot of prize money on offer courtesy of Team Darenth we are expecting this year to be even more popular, so start training!
