Course crew have been on site since last Friday, 5 days later and over 2000 4' wooden stakes have been banged in with over 10km of Shimano tape attached to it. The windy singletrack means a lot of stakes are needed to keep everyone safe and riders on track.

Worry Gill looks great with the tape framing the picture and sitting there with no riders and no spectators it is a little tough to imagine how different it will look on Sunday with 300 of the best riders in the World, music, colour and some expert commentary. Medusa's Drop is another hotspot and the sight of riders streaming their way down the new extended lines wil be pretty special.

Mobile communications, internet have all been installed and if you are at Dalby this weekend then for one weekend only you will be able to call home. Marquees began going up on Sunday and a sea of marker flags set the positions for the 100+ exhibitors and teams who will be there at the weekend.

The buzz around Pickering is all about the Pro Sprint eliminator on Friday night (think 4x for cross-country through the streets of Pickering) and if you make it to that then watch out for a rather special heat including 2 British XC legends and 2 of the absolute legends of our sport from overseas.

The whole lack of airplanes has definitely been a worry but with the skies opening up and Burry Stander just arrived in town, (from a huge effort via planes and boats back from the Sea Otter), it looks like all the major players should be here and the first World Cup in England for 11 years is all ready to go.

XCracer will be reporting from the event and if you don't make it up here at the weekend (shame on you..) then check out out live Freecaster feed on XC Racer.com for Sundays main races.
