A quick preview of Round 4 of the Race Face Circus of Dirt from Jay of Shred Events:

Us? Scared of Woodbury Rash? How very dare you! It's been over a year since our last visit to Woodbury and riders are still picking bits of chemically-impregnated gorse out of their legs.  The original venue for round 4 had to be binned as it is the victim of over-pruning, so in a sudden outburst of democracy the rabble voted on the peoples' choice. Woodbury won by a landslide and so this weekend we will be racing over the pebbles, shell casings and camouflaged marines on Woodbury Common.

The increasingly popular enduro kicks off at 10-00 with one and two hour options. We particularly love the riders that get into the spirit of the format by stopping for a bacon bap before cracking out another lap. All the traditional cross-country categories kick off at 13-00. Sign on from 0830 for the keen and up to 20 minutes before the start of the race (for Steve Ferguson).

With Jay and Maddie fresh from their antics designing the 24-12 course, they are determined to surprise riders with a side of Woodbury Common that they will not have raced before. You can still expect to be sliding uncontrollably on pebbles for longer than strictly necessary, but this will be broken up by woodland singletrack that we have been granted access to for the first time. If we all play nicely we might even be allowed back.

Following on from the hills of Hustyns and the epic lap at Newnham, this time out it's less climbing with the emphasis on speed and fun. Of course the chances are that it will all change once we start putting the course out.

Catering for this event comes from Timary Spice, a Carribean specialist serving roti wraps with goat and shrimp being the ones we are particularly looking forward to. Apparently goat is seasonal, presumably because they all fly south for the winter.

The event will be signposted from Woodbury village, postcode EX5 1NY. There is no parking at the start so please obey the parking signs as you see them. This is not Sainsbury's and we don't want to see cars full of bikes crawling round looking for a spot 10 inches closer to the start. The start is less than 400 metres from the car park.

If you have already raced one of the series, please bring your number with you or face ridicule at registration.
