WMBS Round 1: Course Preview and Directions

With only a few days to go until Round 1, the course is now set and we have a pretty good idea of what the ground is going to be like (assuming that there aren't any biblical rainstorms between now and Sunday). Most of the course is firm and should hold up really well. There are a few muddy patches but even these have relatively firm ground underneath.

It won't be an easy day out-there are a couple of short steep climbs, a couple of small drags and the main long climb towards the end of the lap. In between the climbs are fun descents and technical sections. The main descent has bermed turns and a rock garden at the bottom (and an easier, but a little slower, B-line option) and leads pretty quickly into a rooty singletrack section through a small wood-again there are two options for the wooded section-take the higher, more technical line and come out faster or the lower, less technical line and face a small climb to exit the section.

Entry on the day is available, just come to the registration tent before your race.

Directions:

For directions, please click on the link below. Head to the Quad bike centre and you should see signs to the WMBS. Continue past the Quad Bike Centre entrance up Eglywsilian Road until you see the Rose and Crown Pub and the Church. The entrance to the parking is just before the Pub on the left hand side. If you go past the pub and church on your left, you have gone too far. Please do not park in the Pub car park. adventurewales.co.uk
