Its now just 1 week to go to the 5th running of the Exposure Night of the Knobbly Tread event at Black Park on October 17th, this event fills a gap between the long endurance type events that normally take place over night, giving riders who like the idea of racing in the dark but can not commit to an overnight race a chance to sample the buzz of riding off road in the dark. The event caters for all standards of riders with the fun riders starting at 7 p.m. and then at 8 p.m. it is time for the more experienced riders with races for all categories.

The event is based at Black Park Country Park which is close to Slough and is easily accessible from the M25/M40 and the M4, although a flat venue the organising team, the West Drayton MBC have found some lovely flowing single track and a few bomb holes to keep everyone on their toes and fast close racing will be the order of the day.

With both last years open champions, Cat Ross and Isaac Pucci absent this year it is time for new champions to be found and with some great prizes on offer from sponsors Exposure Lights and the Specialized Concept Store Ruislip who ever wins is guaranteed some goodies to take home with their trophy. There is also a special prize as the event is close to Halloween for the best fancy dressed rider. Catoegroies prizes will be awarded to the following categories, Open, Fun, Vets and Grd Vets , although in the vets with Club rider Marc Chamberlain expected to ride there will be some stiff competition for the podium places

The club have been organising regular training sessions down at the venue and the census of opinion is that this is the best ever track that has been laid out at Black Park with three new bomb holes added to spice the 3 mile lap up.

Although entry on the day is available on line entry at reduction is still open for a couple more days. As always all finished will get free refreshments and there is even some free beer to be handed out.

So get those entries in for this unique event

For those wanting a sneaky preview of the course the promoting club will be organising 2 more reconnaissance sessions around the circuit both this Tuesday and Thursday and will be meeting a Go Ape if you want to have a preview at 6:30 p.m., but remember the venue is a country park and the racing will have to be saved for event day.

On line entry is via the British cycling website and full details can be found at www.blackparkraces.co.uk or e-mail organiser Chris Denman at Chris@westdraytonmbc.co.uk for further details.
