There aren't that many competitive events where riders of all ages can compete together, but Gorrick's TrailTrax is one of them - there's a specific Family category. That means 2hrs off road riding as a family in lovely countryside to collect as many points as you can, then back to the pub to relax at a friendly prize giving.
However TrailTrax events also cater for all sorts of riders, those who want fast, challenging riding and those who want leisure riding. That's the beauty of these events, they really do cater to everyone as it's entirely up to you what riding you do and you don't need to be a great map reader! There are categories for Solo, Pairs and Groups of friends as well as Families.
Riders:
• Plan their route on a map pre-marked with 20 check points of varying values. Riding time doesn’t start until a rider is ready to go.
• Ride to as many checkpoints as they want, finding and punching their card when they're there to collect points (kids love this).
• Return to HQ within their chosen time limit (either 2 or 3 hours).
• Hand in their card and then relax, chat and enjoy the food and drink available in a cosy pub before the friendly prize giving courtesy of www.mountain-trax.com the events’ sponsor.
• There are just 2 TrailTrax events this year, and full details & online entry are at http://www.gorrick.com/trailtrax/index.php but riders can always just turn up and enter on the day of the events. Why not try something a bit different? Click any of the images below for a larger view / slideshow
