In just under 2 weeks time, the trails of Newnham Park will be taken over by women on two wheels and trainers taking part in the Filthy Foxes Dirty Weekend.
The event is a women only mountain biking and running festival designed to encourage more girls to take part in off road activities, and giving them a taster of mass participation events without having to worry about been mown down by a bunch of sweaty, lycra clad blokes. Created by Maddie Horton, local elite mountain biker and ex GB runner, and moulded by the ideas and input of local female mountain bikers the Filthy Foxes event offers something for everyone.
For just �40 entrants can camp on site from Friday - Sunday and take part in any of the activities laid on. All of the following activities are covered in the price:
15km and 25km mountain bike challenge
5km trail run
Outdoor Circuits
Coached mountain bike rides
Led road rides
Skills coaching
Bike maintenance sessions
Q+A evening with elite athletes (including wine+ cup cakes)
Under 12s race (boys and girls)
Queen of the hill competition - runners V riders
There will also be a cr�che available for a small extra charge. Families are welcome, and we'd like to encourage husbands / partners to come along to offer support. Cook the dinner, hold the bags, look after the kids - it's Mum's turn to get muddy.
