The "Fairweather Challenge" may have been a more appropriate event title for the offroad Sportive out of Andover on Sunday 15th October. A cloudy start eventually gave way to a lovely sunny afternoon which was more beneficial to the later starters/finishers. So yes, lying in bed on a Sunday can be a good thing!
Riders had the option of a long or medium route that both converged at the feed stop prior to the plunge into the glorious Collingbourne Woods. There were many favourable reports at the Finish of endless fun singletrack. So much fun that a few riders even repeated the woods loop, now that's the spirit. It was good to see so many enthusiastic youth riders dragging their parents round too.

Elapsed ride times are available to view on www.gorrick.com, and there's a link there too to the free downloadable images taken by official event photographer Kevin Sheldrake.

At the finish the Gorrick Team surprised one very lucky rider. Howard Stinton was randomly picked from the entries and won a Saddle Skedaddle MTB break, just for turning up. Well done Howard hope you enjoy it.

The Challenges are over for 2017, but will be back in May 2018, but if riders want to take part in more events, Gorrick hosts the Brass Monkeys Winter MTB cross country endurance races during November and December. Full details are at www.gorrick.com and pre-entry is on this web site.
