In a world where the number of mountain bike duathlons has reached near extinction, The Stinger bucks the trend and remains as popular as ever.

The format for the classic Stinger has remained gloriously unchanged throughout its life – a 5km off-road run, followed by 20km on mountain bike before you head out on The Stinger run. It may only be 3km, but it will be 3 km of the deepest mud and steepest hills Newnham Park has to offer. You’ll love it.

For 2018, you’ll also be able to cut your teeth on the novice Stinger – all the fun and games of the classic, but just half the bike distance. The novice event is for solos only.

With more and more relay pairs entering every year, this is the time to find that perfect team-mate that will guarantee you a podium spot. I believe that Mo Farah is free that weekend.

The atmosphere is always great, the shouts of encouragement always drown out the groans of the weary, and you’ll all go home with a Stinger souvenir for bragging rights in the office on Monday.

Entries available for pairs, and solo entries in the classic distance and solos only in the novice Stinger.

Usual shabby-chic facilities available in Newnham Park.
Catering this year will be wood fired pizzas from Kerno Forno.


Timetable:
09:00 Registration Opens
09:30 Mountain bike course open for practice
10:00 Transition area open for solo competitors
11:00 The Stinger race starts

There will be a hard standing car park, toilets, hot and cold refreshments, first aid, live timing, commentary, prizes for top 3 in each category and an event memento for all pre-entered competitors.
