Riders explored the scenic stomping ground of one of Britain's best loved folk heros by taking part and trying one of our four exciting new routes for 2013.
There were 6, 15, 23 or 40 mile routes through Sherwood Pines, perfect for enjoying Nottingham's beautiful autumnal forest and helping the nation's heart charity.
6 mile: The perfect family route, exploring Sherwood Pines forest along the beautiful Adventure Cycle trail, totally traffic free.
15 mile: Extending on from the 6 mile route around Clipstone Park. This route includes road crossings and bridle paths and sections where you will need to dismount and lift your bike over a small railway sleeper (this ensure the paths remain free from motorbikes). Suitable for beginners and newer riders this is a great way to explore outside the forest.
23 mile: Continuing north from the 15 mile route, for intermediate riders, this route navigates around Sherwood Forest Country Park and past the famous 'Major Oak' before returning to Sherwood Pines forest and joining the fun Adventure trail to finish.
40 mile: For experienced riders, this ride continues north along the National Cycle Network trail 6, passing around Clumber Park and then heading back south to Sherwood Pines Forest for a lap of the forest, before finally finishing a big day of riding.
