After two successful years the Mondraker Gravity Rally, in association with the National Trust, will return for a third year. Over the past two years the Exmoor based event has established itself as one of the UK’s best gravity enduro weekends: good vibes, good beer and of course great riding are all trademarks of this event. It’s competitive – but it’s also a great laugh.

For 2014 the organising team at Shred are delighted to announce a second date to make up a mini series across the Summer of 2014. The first event will be held on the weekend of July 12/13th at the now infamous Holnicote Estate in Exmoor National Park, the second event will be September 13/14th at Newnham Park, Plymouth – right on the edge of Dartmoor National Park.

Shred’s Steve Toze is pleased with the outlook for 2014, “I’ve wanted to bring an event back to Newnham Park since I organised the massive 1998 Grundig World Cup as a youngster. The park offers different challenges to the Exmoor venue and with the help of local landowners I think we’ll be able to showcase some of the astounding trails the Plym Valley area has to offer. Exmoor continues to blow us away and amazingly we keep finding new trails for stages that are simply awesome. We’re also building new trails on Exmoor which is a great legacy. They’re going to be two really great riding weekends.”

2014 also sees the introduction of a completely new timing system, Event Manager Jon Catney said, “We’re still taking abuse from screwing up the timing on a stage last year so we’ve covered our butts by purchasing what we consider to be the best timing system currently available in the UK – if not the World. It’s the same system used by the World Enduro Series and we hope this will give Mondraker Gravity Rally that final piece in the jigsaw, with times available immediately after each stage. Real time ‘live timing’ is not realistic due to the long stages and terrain but we’re testing it over the winter in our RaceFace Circus of Dirt enduro’s so we’ll be pin sharp and ready for action.”

Of course both events will feature a large dollop of South West hospitality with our main sponsors all returning for 2014, expect the usual massive prize raffle, free brake pads and service assistance from RWD, the finest coffee on the planet thanks to Rockets & Rascals and local ale from our friends at Exmoor ale. We expect a few more trade stands, a larger food offering and of course we’ll have a rocking band for each event too.

Entry is open now, it’s £50 with only 400 places available for each event. Last year’s event attracted a full field so early entry is encouraged.
