Season Off To A Flying Start...

Well another busy year planned, taking my son to the full National Series and a peppering of regional races. Unfortunately I had some bad news earlier this year that Jon Brooke (photographer) has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, Jon has asked me to look after his events for 2014 so the busy year has just got busier. I will be taking photos at the Marathon Series, Bikefest , Octoberfest and the Dyfi Enduro. Although I love taking photographs it's not really the way you want to pick up work, Wish Jon all the best with his recovery.

The season started with a visit down to Wheal Maid Cornwall where round two of the National Series will take place, you don't need much inspiration to take photo's there. Then a mammoth Journey east to Essex for round one of the National Series, it's always interesting speaking to racers, entering the first race of the season, not quite knowing where they will sit in the pecking order. It's great to see the younger categories growing each year and the quality get's better & better. Then onto the opening round of the Marathon Series, under new management they really have tried to put the festival feel back into the series, the feedback was positive. There was a really strong field, Nick Craig - Scott Racing, Phil Morris - XCRACER, Neil Crampton - Torq Performance and a return of the old rivalry with Anthony White - XCRACER and Matt Page - Pivot. I think this has always been a breeding ground for future XC Racers with kids as young as five doing the 25K,. Watching a five year old clear the Rock Garden where many adults dabbed was one of the highlights of the day…
